You are very welcome to comment on any of my blog posts and will be able to do so by clicking on the title of the post then scrolling down to where you’ll see a small ‘Leave a Comment’ or ‘Pleasant comments welcome’ link. Clicking that will reveal the comment box.
The need for an email address is simply a security precaution. I will see your email address when you comment, but nobody else will.
If you want to ask me about anything specific that is related to myself or my work, or want to tell me about something vintage-photo related, but which is off-topic to specific posts, please use my ‘Talk To Me’ page. And if you want to say something that relates to your own personal life – or mine! – please use my contact form instead (or my personal email if we’re ‘real life’ friends or family) as this site is public and its content – including comments – will eventually appear in search engines (such as Google) and will remain there indefinitely, to be found by anybody… and not necessarily nice people!
Also, as I know some of my family and friends visit this site – hello – a word about my husband… to retain a bit of privacy, I refer to him here as ‘Mr. H.’ which is short for ‘Mr Halloumi’ (as he is very fond of Halloumi cheese!) So if you want to mention him, please use ‘Mr H.’ or ‘Mr Halloumi’ instead of his real name. Also, I try to keep the rest of my private life off this site… so, use a bit of discretion, please.
I moderate (approve before publishing) all comments to minimise the chance of spam and other bot-type nasties getting through, but would ask you to be responsible for your own content. Staying on topic and adding to the post with pleasant and interesting comment is great, but going off at a tangent, having rants, picking on other commenters (or me!), or having long off-topic private discussions, is not, and I shall probably just delete those, ditto comments with links to other blogs’ posts or external sites that are unrelated to or distract attention from the post. (If you have a WordPress.com blog your ‘screen name’ will automatically link to your active blog so there is no need to add your blog address.)
I’d also prefer, please, that you keep politics and religion out of your comments as they can lead to discord. However, a missing comment does not automatically mean that I’ve deleted it as the site’s spam-eater (called ‘Akismet’) sometimes eats the wrong comments and puts genuine and perfectly fine comments into its over-large stomach! So, if your comment doesn’t appear, please don’t think the worst, just wait a few days and hopefully I’ll find it and fish it out.
I try to reply to as many comments as I can but please don’t be offended if I don’t respond to all, or as quickly as you’d like as otherwise I’d not be able to do anything else. 🙂
By the way, ‘Likes’ are turned on for some posts, and off for others. These days they are mostly ‘off’. I’m not a great fan of Post Likes as, 1. They discourage engagement via comments from new and regular followers, and 2. They tend to attract undesirables (y’know – people who want you to visit their commercial site and don’t give a flying duck for your actual blog posts). It’s still possible to click the Like-button via the Reader, but then I know you’ve not visited the blog and – of course – nobody else will see your Like.
