I’m happy for you to share my posts, but only in certain ways, please read on…
All photos and text in Colouring the Past website and blog are my copyright. Of the images, some are of my family, some of myself, some are of people or places unknown to me in photos and postcards I’ve purchased over the years. I am the owner of the former and regard myself as the custodian of the latter and am ever hopeful of finding and reuniting those with their families if I can ever find them. Please note: these are not images that I have taken from the internet, they are all photos and postcards in my own possession. However, I don’t want to discover that I’ve reconnected someone with their photos only to find that someone else has stolen or ‘borrowed’ them, and I most definitely don’t want anyone to claim copyright of my own photos that I’ve shot myself or inherited from family. So…
You are welcome to share the posts that contain the photos, if there are sharing buttons in the posts, via those buttons or by using the URL (web address) as a link for the post. If a post or page has no sharing buttons it means I don’t want it shared, and if it has only specific buttons it means I only want the post shared with those particular services not any other, so please respect that.
While it is very easy to save or copy the images by themselves, please don’t do that without my permission. If, for instance, you want to do a blog post of your own about my work and need some images, please ask me via my contact form, first. Direct copying and reposting is always bad as it uses my internet bandwidth (it’s called ‘hotlinking’), and saving the image to your own computer or device without permission is stealing, so… just don’t!
Where I’ve posted before and after versions, these need to be seen together not separately, so if I give you permission to use any, please ensure you use both together. Do not alter the images in any way and do not remove the copyright notice or my name. Please also ensure that there is always a link back to the original photos’ posts or pages here on my site. If you’re unsure how to find or post links, just ask me.
I don’t mind Reblogs on WordPress.com as it’s only an excerpt that shows, however please do not use the full post or claim its content as your own, and I’d very much appreciate it if you would avoid reblogging to a blog or site that consists only or predominantly of reblogs or reposts. These have a very bad reputation. A good blog is one that has original content by one or more of its own authors.
Finally please do not copy, save or otherwise use my userpic/avatar/gravatar. Obviously, I’m happy for it to appear on my own comments and on my own site.
